    As I need to run my water through a “filter” taking out all the minerals (water here is really not good), which only has a low throughput, that might be helpful.

      Number one enemy, the only time you want to introduce oxygen is after cooling and before pitching yeast, if you're using dry yeast you don't even need to do that, only for liquid yeast. Nowhere else! Cheers!

    Sounds like my favorite beer! Have you done a side by side w the real thing? Do you think you get as many IBUs from the WP as they do? Dry hop temp and duration? Leave it for the two weeks at the bottom while you lager and then transfer to keg?

    • @HomeBrewNetwork
      @HomeBrewNetwork 9 дней назад

      Yeah I just didnt want to drink two beers midweek when it was filmed. Its the same beer. I didnt seem to have any troubles with this recipe and the whirlpool, I can't say on your system. I remove yeast before dry hop whenever possible even if dry hopping before end of ferment. I dry hop at ferment temp, stops hop creep being a problem down the track, if you are the kind of person that likes dropping temp for dry hop, its never worked for me, I'd only drop it 2 degrees or something just to try and drop any suspended yeast. I'm not a dry hop for 2 days kind of person, because its fraught with failure, you dry hop and then when you think its ready you move to the next step. About 4 days is the usual time for my success, sometimes a touch longer. Then once crashed for a few days you can either leave it on the hops or keg it, its not going to matter much, I usually keg just to clear out my fermenter fridge for something else. Cheers!

    Wish I would have been told this 14 years ago when I first started brewing. Was ready to give up before I started kegging. All my bottled beers suffered from varying amounts oxidation and I never could figure out why in my process where it was coming from. The efficiency of my all in one I will end up with 5½ to 6 gallons and for a while was bottling the remainder that didn't fit a corny. For the past year I've just been dumping the leftover and stopped bottling because the oxidation was still there compared to what I would pull off tap. Now I know to not to muck around shaking the bottles. Just leave them alone. Thanks Gavin! Cheers from Wyoming USA!

    • @HomeBrewNetwork

      Unfortunately unless you use a fancy bottling device all bottle conditioned beer will be oxidised, as much as a lot of home brewers say theirs isn't, it is. All these little things help though! Cheers and thanks for watching mate

    Differential determines how far from set point the relay changes state. You erroneously stated that .5 would go .5 above and .5 below point which is wrong. Differential =.5 would mean as temperature drops below set point by .5 degrees the relay would close energizing heater and as temperature reaches set point relay will open de-energizing the heater. This could be called “span” or “range”. A more common case might be to regulate temperature between say 25-30C. The differential is 5. So for heating the relay closes when 25C is reached and will open at 30C turning off the heater. All instruments have a deadband which is “slop” so exact temperature is not possible but close enough. A true PID controller would let you tune out almost all deadband

    • @HomeBrewNetwork
      @HomeBrewNetwork 17 дней назад

      I was keeping it simple so people understand it, and a PID controller would be totally useless for the situation I was using this in, and most other brewers as well. When we want PID control we buy a PID controller. Cheers!

    Hi, thanks for all your great information. I have your Fermzilla 3.2 and the hop bong. I used the hop bong on my current brew and removed the bong - with the base for the bong sill attached. Do you have any tricks to make the fermzilla shorter as configured at the moment? I'd like to cold crash this batch but currently its about 2 inches too tall for my keezer Can I turn the stand upside down and rest it on the larger rung - thereby making the fermzilla sit a little lower? Can I take off the collection cup and let it stand on the collar that the collection cup attaches to?

    • @HomeBrewNetwork
      @HomeBrewNetwork 17 дней назад

      Yes you can take the jar off and rest it on the collar, you can also turn it upside down but not much use if you need to turn it over again to get the beer out, also you need to be extremely careful with fittings and pressure as the PRV would not work properly. Cheers!

  • @perlindstam
    @perlindstam 25 дней назад

    ok, let me get this, oxidation is all about exposure to oxygen? The amount of of oxygen would be the same, shake or not? Feels like the difference is more about the squeezing, getting the air out will of course reduce the amount of oxy in the bottle?

    • @HomeBrewNetwork
      @HomeBrewNetwork 17 дней назад

      Its definitely more about the squeeze, but if there is any truth at all in the yeast being able to oxygen scavenge its best to not shake. Cheers!
